Why we build software for food families
The family food-business idea behind Chyve Food Operations—and the everyday questions that shaped it.
Sonny and his children wanted to sell homemade lasagna. Looking for software that fit the work led to Sonny's Kitchen Manager, which became Chyve Food Operations.
The idea raised practical questions. What ingredients would be needed? How much could the kitchen make? When could orders be ready? How would the costs and quantities stay understandable as the plan changed?
The work behind a food idea
Food businesses bring several kinds of information together. The product a customer buys is connected to a recipe. The recipe needs ingredients. Ingredients arrive from suppliers and move through production. Orders make promises about quantity and time.
Chyve Food Operations brings products, inventory, recipes, production, purchasing, orders and food costs into that working picture. The purpose is to help the people doing the work keep track of it.
Families belong in the conversation
A family business has a real operating day, with obligations beyond the next order. Planning capacity and handoff times is part of making the business fit that day.
We want home kitchens and young entrepreneurs to find useful ideas here: thoughtful planning, understandable numbers and a chance to learn together. Adults remain responsible for the business and for checking the rules that apply to each product and person's participation.
A small beginning can be worth building
Software for food families, by food families, describes where this work comes from. A modest idea can deserve careful tools. So can an established operation trying to make its next day more manageable.
