A place to begin

Indiana is our launch priority.

Its homestead and small-farm framework opens opportunities worth exploring. Choose a category and read the conditions for your actual operation.

Opportunity comes with a route.

Home-produced food, farm meals, and a chef cooking at your home can follow different rules. A restriction in one category may leave another route available.

Compare states and operating routes

Find your state. Explore your route.

Each finding applies to its named route. Conditions apply is a possible route with requirements; Outside this route is a category-specific exclusion; Needs more research is unresolved evidence. Sales limits depend on the category; gross sales, net sales and per-product limits are different measures.

Your storefront. Your direct sale. Chyve is designed around customers ordering directly from your business through your own storefront. “Online orders” below refers to that direct route. Third-party marketplace listings, such as Uber Eats and Grubhub, and external delivery services need their own assessment.

Food-business opportunities by state and category

This is a sourced research comparison. It does not approve a particular operation or cover every local and federal requirement. Catering, experiences, alcohol and non-meat service research is being expanded; a state baseline does not establish every activity.

Your craft. Their table.

Serving an experience?

Private chefs, meal-prep plans, mobile hibachi and guided tastings deserve their own assessment. Track where food is prepared, where it is served, and whether alcohol is supplied or served. These specialist services need separate research; a home-meal permit does not establish permission for a chef, caterer or mobile operator elsewhere.
